Love Through Thick and Thin, Literally

I don't know what to make of this. Is it just me or does the husband look like he's aged in the second picture, while the wife looks pretty much the same?

How the hell did he lose so much weight? All I can think is he suddenly got really into rock climbing and the sun weathered his face a bit and turned him into a rugged, lean, muscle-machine who only eats energy bars. I think it's amazing that he dropped what looks to be about 400 inches in his waistband, but damn. He almost looks like a different guy!
